Posted by brad on 6/24/2007 on brad's blogToday’s race in Holland I shouldn’t even have started. It’s was about a 4K lap that we did 36 times for 120 Kilometers. Within the first 2K I got a flat. I asked the guy if I get a free lap and he said no and sped off without giving me any help. It wasn’t the fastest wheel change ever as the guy had to take his seat belt off and give me the correct wheel. When you’re a minute down on the peleton in the first lap you can forget it. I chased for about 2 laps and then waited for the group to come around. I figured I can at least train. After 18 laps of riding in the group suffering for last place I get frustrated and pulled out for a ride in the country. When getting out in the country the rear wheel didn’t feel right so I stopped and spun it. Not only did the wheel guy take forever but the wheel wasn’t in straight at all and was rubbing the crap out of my left break pad. Not a great day for me but we had 2 guys in the top 10 and one on the podium. Hopefully tomorrow will be better for me and I can do something.
