Posted by whitey on 8/9/2007 on whitey's blogI have officially started training for the 07/08 cyclocross season. It started out with a short ten-minute run with my girlfriend, whose legs were surprisingly less sore than mine. Guess I’ve fallen victim to only being good at one thing, pedaling circles. Next on the list were some short intervals to wake up my legs and remind them what they do best. Since I am working at the coffee shop now, I didn’t get a chance to ride until 8:30 pm. This made for some interesting training. First of all it was really dark and I didn’t have a light. To be safe, I stayed mostly on the bike paths and rode up towards Four Mile on the Boulder Creek Path. Wow, it gets really dark in the mountains once you’re out of the city. The entire path is next to the river and the constant rapids make it really hard to hear what’s going on around you. I stopped half way up to gather may senses and stare at the stars for awhile before heading back down. Once back in the city I went over and did some intervals on campus. The sprinkler system came on half way through and I kept riding so I felt like a total badass. On my way home, I stopped at my girlfriend’s house to say goodnight but ended up staying. So this morning, I had no clothes to wear except the kit I had trained in the night before. There’s only one thing to do when that happens, train some more!
