Dirty Bikes

Posted by MobCyclery on 4/11/2007 on MobCyclery's blog | Groups: Team Einstein

For the love of God, please clean your bike before you take it to your favorite shop to be serviced!! I'm gonna let you in on a little fyi....the moment you step out of the shop's door, the staff laughing at your filthy bike....and you’re gonna get charged a cleaning fee to boot! Just do all of us a favor and run it through the car wash and rinse it off!! I don’t mean that you have to make it sparkle....just wash off the large chunks of mud and grime so we can properly care for your rig! A clean bike is a happy bike.

Great, I'm going to get ridiculed by a business I go to spend my hard-earned dollars at simply because I'm too busy to clean my bike? Isn't that why we have bike shops in the first place, to take care of the service and maintenance we can't/don't have time for/don't want to do?

Gosh, maybe I'll start looking for another shop to spend my $$ at, that's a little less uptight and a little more tolerant.

Sheesh, do people really bring their bikes to you in such bad shape?? What's it take, 5min to spray it down? I always clean my bike before I take it to my shop! It's the least I can do for good service! Plus the occasional 6pack.....treat your shop well and they will go the extra mile!

It's pro to keep you bike clean and in good working condition. I don't think it's uncommon for good bike shops to expect the bikes to be clean. In fact, I would consider this an indication that the shop has pro mechanics and offers top level service.

Sam you need to get a life. Just knock off 5 minutes from your ride and clean the frickin thing! MOB does as GREAT job fixing the bike and they're wicked fast at it too! So let them keep up their fast turn around and clean shop and don't bring your bike with mud all over it and expect it to get fixed.

I love the anonymous comment.....reminds me of the Teton forum. At least you were able to answer the very difficult math question of 2+2 to be able to reply with such a witty retort!

Anonymous says:

I actually failed the math question the first time.

And I was kidding. People, keep your bikes clean!
