Hey, Is That The Duck On TV?

It’s great to see your friends succeed. Especially when you can understand how hard they have worked for it. My buddy Jason had a little party at his house tonight to celebrate his performance at the Tour of California. We watched a DVD his team (Slipstream/Chipotle) put together showing his first experience on the top. They had him on camera while he was waiting to see if Levi was going to beat his TT time. Then, watching him in a press conference with reporters from around the world. It was weird; on the couch next to me is the same guy on TV. The same guy who I used to go on road trips with and race mountain bikes. He’s not worried about his mini van breaking down or sleeping on the floor anymore. Now he travels first class with a team of professionals to take care of him. His parents even made the trip to show how proud they were of their son. I can’t wait to see who else is going to make it big from the group of guys I started racing with. I have a feeling there will be a few more.
