Last "Free" Weekend

Posted by steepleduck on 6/17/2007 on steepleduck's blog

SO my first blog post....wasn't sure about this whole gig until I started finally keeping up with a couple of people's "online journals" namely garciasoup.blogspot.com/ and of course, the infamous, actually famous, Clipped in with Whitey Debroux....good way to pass the time...I figured it was time to add my input to the world of cycling. Whitey was kind enough to let me be a featured blogger. This IS my first time, so bear with me and many thanks and a thousand pardons to "DaBrew" Hang on.
-On to my cycling. Or at this point, lack thereof.

-Kristin and I drove to CSprings yesterday afternoon for a day or so vacation with our good friends the Garcias, and the Nagelkerkes. The wives had a 5k this morning, and the boys, us, were out to cheer them on. This is important because these particular wives spend three-quarters of the year cheering us on in our bike races, gotta give back...so we spent the day racing, hanging out and bar-b-queing, laughing at the dogs...an excellent way to end my mid-season break. I have had 9 days off since crashing rather spectacularly at Philly week. I was holding on to crazy, wringing-the-life-out-of-you europe form, then after the crash I stopped riding at the advice of JV, and was so tired I felt like I had been partying for a month non-stop. On to recovery...I am feeling much better and eager to get back on the bike and reap the rewards of patience. I have about three weeks to get the ball rolling again then back to Spain for Tour of Portugal. I am excited to see what effect this break has on me. Never had time off in the middle of the season, I think it will bode well for my "2nd Half" strength.

-You can never, ever underestimate the power of being home. It brings tranquility and confidence back to the mind and fresh, deep red blood to the legs. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

thanks for reading, j
