Posted by whitey on 2/8/2008 on whitey's blog Yesterday I commented on a picture that Jason Donald posted from France. It’s a nice picture of one of his teammates standing next to a stream. The caption says “A quiet place to reflect”. I suggested that they stopped to pee, as a joke ( but not really). He posted one back saying that’s what reflecting means. Have I been living in the shadows or was he just kidding? Either way, I like it and think I’ll use it from now on. While we’re on the subject, how we pee on the bike is a common question. Personally, I’m the guy who never stops. And no, I do not pee in my pants. I simply pull up the short leg and let it hang out. The optimal speed is between 12 and 16 mph because it won’t spray on you and its fast enough to keep you moving without having to pedal. If you slow down too much and have to pedal, your day just got a lot worse. You also have to look at the terrain and make sure you’re either on a slight downhill or flat surface. And of course, never do what we did during the 2006 Tour de Nez on the Lake Tahoe Stage. Half the peloton moved to the side of the road and relieved themselves while riding past a house with people gathered in the yard cheering for us. Boy did they get a show. | |
