Posted by steepleduck on 10/25/2007 on steepleduck's blog On Dr. Lim's orders I went to see a hypnotherapist. Yes, interestingly enough, there is a need out there for this sort of thing. The only experience I have had with this is at college where a guy would come and we would all gather noisily, recklessly, and a bit skeptical in the auditorium fueled by happy hour swill. It was definitely entertaining, he would pick a few people out from the crowd, invite them into his world of relaxation and submission (hehe) and make them do stupid pet tricks, literally. All in good fun and a great way to kill a couple hours before things got really out of hand. I walked into his office and we talked about my wife, family, things that happened to me growing up, cycling, a summation of all things duck. Then he talked me down into a wonderful, heavy state of relaxation for about forty minutes. It passed in a flash and I could hear him the whole time, I never stripped naked and ran around, or uncovered any stories of debauchery. It was nice, I guess. Funny, I suppose, but not mind-blowing. I would go do it again if I had to decompress from some crazy, stressful race. Good way to unwind. I am splitting my time between running and riding right now. It is really nice not focusing completely on riding. I also just researched great off-season core work that should help tremedously with my climbing this year. I have more or less been undisciplined in this area this past season and I realize that there is a reason our coaches stress this sort of thing. I ran through the drills yesterday and today it was hard to ride with weak obliques. Our first training camp starts next week, Dr Lim said that we will be so busy that riding will be hard to accomplish. Crazy to think about what we will be doing for ten days besides what we have been hired to do. At the end of the week, at the Boulder Theater we are showcasing the team and it will be considered the official roster announcement. General Admission tickets are 25 bucks if any of you want to show up and meet rider's wives. (Dave Z) That's why I'm going! Thanks for reading. |
