Posted by steepleduck on 7/12/2007 on steepleduck's blog Crazy ass Portuguese riders.....Yesterday was the Prologue, and besides averaging 491 watts for an 8k TT and 14 min I realized that I ended up almost 90 seconds out of the lead. Refreshing, I suppose, yeah, Doping control at this race is probably non-existant for the locals. Anyway, I felt good and I am hoping to sort of ease into this one and get my racing legs back... Today was the first stage, and the only really flat one on the profile. The first 30k there were some big, steep rollers and it only reminds us of what is coming in the next few days...These guys are crazy, I already said that but I have to remind you, because dudes started positioning for the sprint about 30k out from the finish, but it was more of a defensive move, cause they would get to the front, then slow down, hard rhythm to get ahold of, then of course it was a downhill finish, 300m from the line, like six guys went down.....hard....did I say sketch? So yeah, ended up about where I was in the TT, top 40 or so. Tormorrow, the run into the first climb is going to be all out...then survival of the strongest....fittest? cliche....yeah, cool, later dudes...thanks for reading...I haven't forgotten the pictures, they will be up next week... | |

Speaking of cutting people off. You should tell the story about the time you found an i-pod on the road. HA! Kick ass over there.
