Posted by whitey on 12/2/2006 on whitey's blog Guess my season was a little long this year. I have been racing since late February and hit my breaking point right in the middle of cross season. I started to realize it late in the road season and tried taking some time off but it wasn’t enough. So now I sit here with my bikes still in the box from the USGP in Portland. I’ll have to take them out soon and build them up. We have the ACA Colorado State Championship race next Saturday. My riding has been limited to working as a bike messenger for the Denver/Boulder Couriers. It has been really cold lately and dodging cars in the slush has been the name of the game. After work yesterday, my brain must have been totally frozen because I forgot my bike was on the roof of the car when I pulled into the garage. The garage won and my rack was destroyed. The steel Lemond is pretty bomb proof and has survived to ride another day. (Steel is Real baby!) I was worried about how I was going to drop the kids off for school on Monday and still get my bike to work on time. Thankfully the boys at Rocky Mounts fixed me up right away and I’m back in action. Good thing I didn’t go somewhere else when I bought the rack or I’d be missing a lot of work next week. I literally pulled into the shop and pulled out twenty minutes later with a rebuilt rack as good as new. Let’s see you do that at REI. | |
