Posted by whitey on 6/16/2007 on whitey's blogI went to the Masquerade Ball last night and it reminded me of how I have a hard time recognizing cyclists in casual clothes. As a cyclist, you may only see certain people while wearing their cycling kits. This can make for some awkward moments. I ran into a guy just the other day who I ride with all the time and didn’t recognize him. He was like “hey Whitey” and I kind of recognized his face but had no idea who he was. I had to ask his name and it turns out I had just ridden with him the day before. I don’t think I have ever seen him outside of cycling, so without a helmet, glasses and team clothes can you blame me? It’s easy for people to remember me, I have a big scar on my face and my name is Whitey. Short of a name tag, what more do you need?

I ran into a guy that swims in the lap lane next to me downtown at the farmers market...when I said, hi dan! and introduced myself to his wife, he replied with 'Amanda! I didnt recognize you with your clothes on!'
Yea. Not such a good thing to say in front of your wife.
