CYCLING TALES

Windyerna Mofo

Posted by whitey on 2/11/2008 on whitey's blog

The wind has been crazy around here lately and it’s made the riding difficult. Some of the gusts are so strong not only do they make it hard to stay on the road but they suck the breath right out of you. And just to make it fun, many of the gusts carry sand and tumble weeds. It’s all bad though, the temperature is in the mid fifties and sunny. Its days like this that make me want to ride east all day. Maybe even all the way to Kansas. Of course that would be a suicide mission unless you had someone give you a ride home.

A Memorial Day that I simply won't forget.

Posted by joby on 5/31/2007 on joby's blog | Groups: Team Einstein

Monday right?
That's how most Memorial Days start and this was another one in the same Memorial Day beginnings.
Beautiful blue skys and nice and warm no rain in sight for miles.
I thought hey it's a holiday I'm not racing and the shop is closed I ain't got S@!t to do so I'll roll out the 9-2-5 fixy and go cruse the parks and paths and get in some nice easy recovery miles.

First stop on the ride Wash Park mid town Denver proper.
Here I'm rollin through the park and all of a sudden I'm being passed by a
US Postal Jersey, then an FDJ jersey and then a Triple By Pass jersey.

YourCycling.com Podcast #11 - a chat with Fred Dreier

Posted by whitey on 5/30/2007 on whitey's blog

Before I hit the long road a couple of weeks ago, I tracked down VeloNews journalist Fred Dreier. We chatted about life as a cycling journalist, and then, unable to suppress the journalist inside, Fred "flipped the script" and took over the interview. Take a listen!

Audio: YourCycling.com Podcast #10 - Interview with a different kind of biker

Posted by whitey on 5/17/2007 on whitey's blog

While in Silver City, New Mexico for the Tour of Gila, Brad and I used an unconventional method to make a grocery store run on Cinco de Mayo. Think bike racers have strong legs? Try being a bike taxi driver!

Posted by whitey on 3/28/2007 on whitey's blog | Groups: Team Einstein

This week I wanted to highlight a world that not a lot of other people see - the behind-the-scenes of a race team. I was able to catch up with Team Einstein's support staff member Chris Affrunti, who lets us know what it's like to be on the road and supporting a team like ours.
