Almost Like Running

Posted by whitey on 2/28/2008 on whitey's blog

Running is nice because you can get a great workout in a short amount of time. For those of you with a full-time job and/or kids you know how time is always an issue. Lately it has been a big issue for me and although I have been riding, it’s been stressful trying to fit everything in. For example, yesterday I needed to pick my boys up at 5:00 and couldn’t get out on my bike until 4:00. Both boys go to school about 8 miles away and neither of them had a bike at school.

A Horse and I

Posted by whitey on 1/7/2008 on whitey's blog
The Horse and I

After jumping on the scale last night and realizing that I have let myself get 21.6 pounds over race weight, I have a whole new motivation to ride. This is why I still got on my bike and rode today after looking out the window and seeing it snow in the mountains. It only took me 45 minutes to get into it and at 1-hour I had to turn around. The only other animal I saw outside was this horse that I bonded with shortly before turning around. The way down was much colder and by the time I got home my toes where like one big clump of frozen flesh. They are still thawing out as I type this.

Teacher On Two Wheels

Posted by yedrek on 10/20/2007 on yedrek's blog

My friend Andrew Morgan is riding his bike and pulling his trailor from New Jersey to Argentina, then taking a freighter to South Africa, then Riding to Egypt.  You can follow his Blog to see what he is up to and where he has been.  He is a teacher and stops at schools along the way.  His blogs are interesting and well written, it is worth checking out.  He has gear lists and stats on his trip.  Its all prety descriptive.  www.teacherontwowheels.com is the site.  Check it out, comment, sponsor him, tell your friends.  Its a pretty cool trip.

An Unpleasant Site

Can you find the naked guy?

After not riding for four days during Nicks wedding trip I was dying to spin my legs again. Today’s loop was mostly on easy dirt trails with some moderate single track and a few short road sections mixed in. That’s one of my favorite things about riding a cross bike, you get to ride on and off the road during the same trip. You never know where you might end up!

Have you ever put yourself in a position where you kept wishing you could go back in time and not be in the position you’re in?

Cyclocross Here I Come

Posted by whitey on 8/9/2007 on whitey's blog

I have officially started training for the 07/08 cyclocross season. It started out with a short ten-minute run with my girlfriend, whose legs were surprisingly less sore than mine. Guess I’ve fallen victim to only being good at one thing, pedaling circles. Next on the list were some short intervals to wake up my legs and remind them what they do best. Since I am working at the coffee shop now, I didn’t get a chance to ride until 8:30 pm. This made for some interesting training. First of all it was really dark and I didn’t have a light.
