I'd Move To Minneapolis

Check out the fork.

I have been here a few times before but have never seen it from the seat of my bike. They have a great bike path system and there are tons of people out exercising. I rode over to the pedestrian mall where we'll be racing on Friday night and saw some pretty cool stuff. Supposedly thousands of people come out and line the streets to watch us race.

Group Ride Crash and Shoe Removal

Taking his Shoe Off

Team Einstein’s road director/racer, Jack Seehofer, has a massive database of knowledge in his head and when you're lucky, he'll pass a little your way. Today was my lucky day. Not only did he keep us safe during the Thursday Night Throw Down (Bus Stop Ride) but he showed how to remove a rock from your shoe while cruising on a busy highway at 20 mph.

I’m used to peeing off a bike and pretty much not stopping for anything other than a mechanical but removing a rock from your shoe would warrant a stop, don’t you think? Not for Jack, he just unbuckled his shoe while it was clipped in, removed his foot, removed his shoe and rock, clipped it back into his pedals, put his foot back in and strapped up. Maybe he was a Tri-athlete in another life or something. Great, now I’ll feel guilty if I stop to take my shoes off.

The Story

It seems to me that the average person thinks crashing your mountain bike is worse than crashing on the road. I spent two years as a pro mountain biker and I can tell you that crashing on the road is WAY worse. I'm sure the guy in this video will disagree but what are your thoughts?

Whitey's really bad crash

Posted by steve outing on 2/8/2007 on steve outing's blog

YourCycling.com enthusiast-in-chief Whitey Debroux had a truly nasty crash during a race in Mexico last year -- when his bike broke apart on a final sprint to the finish line and his face hit the pavement at 40 mph.
