Rattle in My Stem

Posted by whitey on 1/5/2008 on whitey's blog

I switched out the original stem on my road bike for a longer one today just before I went out to ride. About 15 minutes into the ride something inside of it started to rattle. Although it was annoying it made me think of a funny story. About four years ago my friend Chris had his bike at the shop and another friend put a dab of greace inside of it and then stuck a BB into the greace. The BB stayed in the greace for a few rides until it let loose and made the most annoying dinging sound over every bump as it rattled inside the stem.

Halloween 2007
At 7:00am., as sunlight beamed through the window, I rose from my bed. And then, I began to smile.

Why?

I'm in VeloNews

I could totally beat these guys and get some press!

No, they didn’t interview me and I’m not on the cover, but if you look at the picture in the story about the Project Rwanda team you can see me. I’m standing in the second row waiting for the start of a race at Tour of Gila. It’s a pretty sweet picture and you can actually see my face and everything. Not just a shoulder which I would also brag about. When you’re a nobody like me, you have to take what you can get. Maybe someday I’ll do something other than throw my bike through a windshield or develop a first aid kit to get some press. Podium finishes are just too hard and those other guys are too damn fast.

Not Just Any Old Pile of Jerseys.

Posted by whitey on 3/16/2007 on whitey's blog

A good group of friends and I went out to celebrate my birthday last night. To start, we went and got some great steaks followed by a night of spirits and dancing. I didn’t want to drive home so I stumbled over to my friend’s new office and slept on the floor.

What's Up, Old Man

Posted by whitey on 3/5/2007 on whitey's blog

Boulder never stops amazing me. You should have seen how fast this old, grey guy was riding today. He was on this super old road bike with friction shifters and wearing a styrofoam helmet. I think he was racing me because he kept looking back to see where I was.

The Story

This is the funny OJ Simpson White Bronco chase-esque commercial for Specialized, promoting its Roubaix road bike. Great stuff!
