On the Floor at the Nuggets Game

Posted by whitey on 2/26/2008 on whitey's blog
The View From My Seat

I would like to wish a happy 14th birthday to Peter and Ella, my girlfriend’s younger twin siblings. Peter and the boys went to a Nuggets game while Ella and the girls went out to dinner at the Kitchen. It was a pretty big deal that he invited me. Kind of like when you get invited to go out for a beer with the big shots at work after a long probationary period. We had a blast and I have a whole new respect for pro basketball players. Watching them on TV has failed to hold my interest, but that TV/real life connection barrier has been breached.

Sneak Peak at Tour of California

Posted by whitey on 1/25/2008 on whitey's blog

I just received a sneak peak of the official guide to the Amgen Tour of California. It looks awesome and I wish I was good enough to race in it, especially when the roster is loaded with ex-teammates and fellow competitors. The first thing I noticed was a flat TT for the prologue. Last year it was up that steep hill where yourcycling.com member Jason Donald took second. The next thing I noticed was the addition of a new course on stage three with a defining climb up MT Hamilton which will help sort out the GC guys.

World AIDS Day - 01 Dec 2007

Started
in 1988, World AIDS Day is not just about raising money, but also about
increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education. World
AIDS Day is important in reminding people that HIV has not gone away,
and that there are many things still to be done.

Happy 4th

Posted by whitey on 7/4/2007 on whitey's blog

My morning was spent fulfilling some ownership duties at the coffee shop in Prospect. Not only is the town of Prospect really cool and unique but they kicked off the Fourth of July with a colorful bike parade. They even provided free decorations for all participants. There were a lot of kids which made our chocolate milk and Italian soda sales go through the roof. We are closing the shop at noon and I can't wait to get out and enjoy the day. Donald and Garcia organized a little get-together later. It will be nice to see them befoe they leave.

Bolder Boulder

Posted by whitey on 5/28/2007 on whitey's blog
This could be the next generation of great athelets to come out of Boulder.

Over Memorial Day weekend, people from all over the world converge to Boulder to enjoy the city and run/race the 10 Km Bolder Boulder. This year’s race attracted about 50,000 participants of all ages and ability. The top three spots in the men’s open race where unofficially claimed by a Moroccan, Ethiopian and a Boulder local. The boys and I rode our bikes over to watch the thousands of runners and circus of spectators. It was really cool and to top it off Boulder holds the Boulder Creek Festival this weekend as well. There are so many people downtown right now you can barely ride your bike.
