Posted by Baselbutt on 3/19/2007 ![]() Two friends and I rode the Badwater 135 course out and back (270 miles) from Furnace Creek in Death Valley to Mount Whitney Portal and back. As "luck" would have it, Death Valley recorded an all time high for this time of year.. 104 in the shade.. Unfortunately there wasn't any shade.. | |

Are you crazy? How long did it take you?

Hey there!
Thanks for the comments! It was a fantastic ride. The roads are about as pristine as you can get - not a single pothole or wrinkle.
I'm not wearing tights - they're actually normal shorts with leg warmers. I snapped this picture while waiting for a friend to catch up (he actually never caught up because mechanical issues forced him to drop out). When we left Lone Pine that morning for the return trip to Death Valley, it was 44 degrees out, so arm and leg warmers were a must.
The ride took about 7 hours with breaks..
I'm thinking about returning to do a training camp for Kona this year.
