Redline Cup

Posted by whitey on 11/3/2007 on whitey's blog

I just finished getting the beat down from riders like Horner, Wicks, Trebon, Powers, Wells, and the Danish National Champion Joachim Parbo. There was a crazy head wind and when I couldn’t hold onto the leaders anymore I was dropped off into no mans land fighting the wind. It didn’t take long to get gobbled up by the second group of fast local riders like myself. With a few exceptions we stayed together for most of the race until the mountain bike legend Travis Brown caught us and blew our group to pieces.

CX Race Starts

Posted by whitey on 9/21/2007 on whitey's blog

The start of a cyclocross race is, in my opinion, the most intense of all cycling disciplines. Your positioning in a cross race can be largely determined within the first 1/2 of a lap. If you start too far back it’s almost impossible to move up because the leaders go full throttle until gaps start to form. This is why you see riders camping out at the start line 30 minutes prior to a race. This is also why riders travel the country to earn UCI points so they can get a call-up and not have to fight for position before the race even starts.

Same Team. Kind of?

Posted by whitey on 8/25/2007 on whitey's blog | Groups: Team Einstein
The New Ciant TCX

For the last two seasons I have raced on the road for Team Einstein’s and cyclocross for Primus Mootry. This cross season I’ll be sticking with Einstein’s and racing a Giant bike instead. Primus Mootry has decided to downsize the team efforts and stay local. I was bummed when I first heard the news because Joe, Chris and the crew at Primus Mootry were, in my opinion, the best cross team on the circuit. I was worried that I would have no support at all, so when Einstein’s stepped up to the plate, I couldn’t refuse.

Priorities Are a Changin'

Posted by whitey on 8/22/2007 on whitey's blog

I have been so busy working lately that my training has taken a huge hit. When I ride, I feel good but I’m afraid the lack of volume is going to be a problem. With tickets booked and race entry paid, I need to get my butt in shape before Cross Vegas. It’s probably going to be the biggest and most exciting cross race in the history of this country.

DBC Events Going Big

Posted by whitey on 8/12/2007 on whitey's blog

I stopped by Denver Boulder Couriers the other day to get some inside information on the first ever UCI cross race in Las Vegas. Luckily I was able to catch the main man himself, Chris Grelish, who is also promoting the Redline Cup on 11/3 and the Boulder Cup on 11/4. If you were at last years Boulder Cup you know it’s not one to be missed and the same will undoubtedly hold true for his three events this year. Cross Vegas will be under the lights in Vegas on Wednesday September 26 during Interbike. Can you say BLING, BLING.

Whitey's top 10 cyclocross races

My editors at YourCycling.com asked me to list my top 10 favorite cyclocross races. OK, here goes... --Whitey Debroux

1) Clark Natwick Grand Prix - San Francisco, California - 60 minutes
It was nice to race in the redwoods and San Fran is a super cool city. Also my best USGP finish of 14th.

Whitey after 60 minutes of cyclocross effort

2) Surf City Cyclocross - Watsonville, California - 60 minutes
I love Santa Cruz and it was a great course.

Invesco Field, Not Just For Football Anymore.

Posted by whitey on 3/12/2007 on whitey's blog | Groups: Team Einstein
Invesco Field at Mile High.

There were two races to choose from today. One was five minutes from my house in Boulder and the other was down in Denver at Invesco Field. Tough choice, but there was more prize money at Invesco and it was USCF, so that’s where I went.

Boulder Cyclocross on TV

Posted by whitey on 3/9/2007 on whitey's blog

If you didn’t catch the post from yourcycling.com member Quadzilla. The USGP Cyclocross race in Boulder will be aired on TV throughout March. The best part is it’s on during normal hours, unlike the last MTB Olympic race which was on at 1:30 in the morning. If you have access, it airs on the Altitude channel at the following times.
