Favorite thing about cycling
For a long time I have enjoyed riding a bike.  I had always ridden a mountain bike, mainly around town and an occassional trail.  I decided a few ago that I wanted to get a road bike and ride in the local 70 mile bike race, The Tour de Gap.  In my training I have fallen in love with being out away from town and in God's creation.  I love the scenery of West Texas.  I have found that I feel really close to God when I am riding by myself and that it is really easy to pray about everything when I am on the bike.  These were unexpected pleasures of riding long distances.  The more expected joys are there too.  I love the strategy involved.  Figuring out how to get the most out of my body and my bike is mentally stimulating.  I really have enjoyed learning how to live (eating, drinking, stretching, etc) while on the bike.
Favorite Destination
I really enjoyed the hills through the Abilene State Park.  I look forward to riding through the wind turbines this upcoming Saturday.  I love driving through them so riding through on my bike has to be ten times greater.
Where I've Raced and Traveled
Not many places, yet.
Races Won or Placed
I will complete the 70 mile Tour de Gap on July 26th, 2008
Cycling Tip
For people who are thinking about getting a road bike, but think it is not for them, get one.  It is true freedom.  "It will hurt my balls,""I don't trust drivers,""there too expensive," are just excuses and you will be over all of them within a week of owning your new bike.
